tomorrow…
I was in the cafeteria making a quick beverage and pickle run when I found out I had a meeting starting in less than two minutes.
Lately my allostatic load has been the highest it’s been since COVID. If you’re not familiar with that term, it’s the cumulative burden our bodies and minds carry from chronic stress…not just a heavy workload, but the constant adapting, problem-solving, decision-making, and emotional weight that accumulates over time.
I like to think I’m coping pretty well.
Then I got to the register…
…and apparently decided to buy one of everything within arm’s reach.
Now I imagine the conversation that took place in my bulging purse….
🥒 Pickles: “Okay everyone…Hannah said we’re making better choices.”
🍒 Cherries: “Exactly. Whole foods. Fiber. Antioxidants.”
🥤 Celsius: “Fantastic. Let’s fuel productivity.”
…
🧀 Cheetos: “Heard somebody was making good decisions.”
🥐 Danish: “Mind if I sit in?”
🍪 Marshmallow Treat: “I brought emotional support.”
🥒 Pickles: “This is exactly what we were trying to avoid.”
🍒 Cherries: “Can someone explain why dessert is here before lunch?”
🥤 Celsius: “I’m beginning to lose control of this meeting.”
🧀 Cheetos: “Motion to ignore all previous goals.”
🥐 Danish: “Second.”
🍪 Marshmallow Treat: “Unanimous.”
The diet starts again
